A brief history
The village was first established during the Japanese invasion of Indonesia between the years of 1942-1945 by its founder Ecep(picture), who settled here with his family. Before then, everything north of Paris van Java consisted of tea plantations with only two percent of the land being buildings.
Since Ecep and his family, others followed, marring into members of his family and settling there by building houses adjacent. Eventually as the population grew, the villagers built roads and basic infrastructure with a special 50,000,000 IDR (roughly 500 USD) funding from the government and remains as the foundation of the village.
Today, Puncak Ciumbeluit is a small village of approximately 200 people consisting primarily of small store owners, farmers and construction workers. They continue to maintain a very traditional lifestyle but face several obstacles that limits them from expanding and growing further.
